Addiction is addiction no maettr how you look at it. It sounds like your friend has an addictive personality. I am sure their are other things your friend is addicted too besides prescription narcotics. the only advice I can give to you is have him look into NA or Narcotics anonymous.A true thing in my life has been I use my addictions to mask the pain of my past. I didn't want to deal with the hurt, betrayal, self loathing etc I used booze, food, drugs, sex, shopping all of that to hide from my feelings.AA helped me and made me see the bigger picture in life. that their is a higher power in the universe that loves me even when no one else did. That higher power for me is god, but that's for me.Again addiction regardless of what it is, Is always hazardous. Your friend needs intervention, your friend needs to want to help himself!!!!
