I too have used this technique and it works well. So goes the saiyng, you can't fight the system A system is a team of voices agreeing on the same thing, and it is futile to try to change it by arguing with the messenger. I hate to use the word bureaucracy but that tangled web of “deciders†at the top is unchangeable by any individual and even inmates understand that. The patient's anger is then directed away from the medical personnel and diffused into the system . The practitioner's approach also has to make the patient feel as though the practitioner understands their pain or plight.
