I live in a rural town in Michigan. Switched from Nextel to Alltel a year ago, because Alltel oefrfed a mobile device that enabled me to have internet access that was not dial-up. I had to put a buster antennae on my roof, but all was well. Good internet signal and cell phone coverage at my house for the first time. When Verizon and Alltel merged everything changed, even though a very detailed and assuring letter from Verizon said nothing would change in my service. I was told that the towers were being updated was given the * this and # that changes, but now have severely inconsistent internet connection and get bumped off the web every few minutes. I wrote several letters and finally got a response back from Verizon. Basically I was told that in order to get internet connection, I would now have to buy Verizon equipment. Alltel was doing business with other companies that were providing my signal, and now, FCC regulations restrict this. So in the name of big business, I am being punished for being a paying customer, supporting a company that will not even, make right, what was done wrong to their inherited customers. I am going to pursue this, and if nothing is done about it, of course, I will seek other options in hopes of finding a company and service thatstill cares about service to paying customers.
