Mr. Max,I take strong issue with your use of the word “casually” there. I have had the chance to work for a number of commissioned officers, both good and not-so-good, and none of the good officers were EVER “casual” about ordering their men to court death for the sake of the mission. General Petraeus was not just good, but one of the very best. He was a military commander and therefore at points did send men to their deaths, but to impute a cavalier attitude on his part to their duty is thoughtless and unseemly.
